Threads of Change
Sewing Joy into every Creation
Threads of Change is an initiative dedicated to sewing creations that contribute to the community and by donating sensory kits to communities and schools in need, as well as port pillows, small pillows that provide cushioning and relief for chemotherapy patients and individuals recovering from surgery. These simple creations can bring not only physical relief but also emotional encouragement.
Over three years, I’m committing 300+ hours to donate hand made
-
50 sensory kits to schools nationwide
-
100 stress-relief kits to teachers
-
100 port pillows to cancer societies
-
100 eye masks to cancer societies
Each person has unique needs. For individuals with sensory sensitivities, custom kits provide the right sensory input to help with regulation.
For cancer patients, small sewn items like port pillows can ease the discomfort of treatment, while soft pillows offer gentle support and comfort during recovery.
This initiative was inspired by my personal experiences with volunteering at YMCA Kid Zone, Best Buddies, and Miracle League, and by time spent volunteering with kids with cancer—where sharing my sewn creations brought them joy and reminded me how small comforts can make a big difference.
Sewing has been my hobby and this is how it all started: LINK
